Why does a 2-carat cost so much more than a 1.5-carat?
Large natural diamonds are far rarer than small ones, so price rises much faster than weight. Across HATO’s solitaire table the step from 1.5 ct to 2 ct is the biggest jump in the range — the explorer above shows the exact figure for each design and grade.
What do IJ-VVS/VS, GH VVS and EF VVS mean?
The letters are colour grades (E–F colourless, G–H and I–J near-colourless) and VVS/VS are clarity grades (very, very slightly and very slightly included). Every HATO diamond is natural and independently certified by GIA, IGI or SGL.
Does 9K, 14K or 18K gold change the price much?
Less than you might think on a solitaire — most of the value is in the diamond. 18K (75% gold) is richer in colour; 14K (58.5%) and 9K (37.5%) are harder-wearing and lighter on the budget.
